Chakra-Based Nutrition: An Integrative Approach to Mental Health & Trauma Recovery

CE Hours 3

About this course

This course, Chakra-Based Nutrition: An Integrative Approach to Mental Health & Trauma Recovery, explores the intersection of nutrition, psychology, and energy systems to support holistic well-being. Participants learn how gut health, microbiota, and the gut-brain connection influence mood, cognition, and emotional regulation, while also examining how stress, trauma, and inflammation impact mental health. The training integrates evidence-based approaches—including trauma-informed therapy, psychoeducation, and nutritional interventions—with holistic frameworks such as chakras and energetics of food. Through case examples, reflective practices, and client-centered tools, the course equips clinicians to ethically and culturally integrate nutrition into mental health practice, honoring scope of practice, client autonomy, and cultural food traditions. Ultimately, it provides a framework for using food as both nourishment and medicine, supporting resilience, balance, and healing across mind, body, and spirit

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the gut-brain connection and its role in mental health, including how gut microbiota influence mood, cognition, and emotional regulation.
  • Assess nutritional and lifestyle factors that contribute to gut health and their implications for mental well- being in diverse populations.
  • Apply ethical and culturally competent strategies to integrate gut health and nutrition-based interventions into clinical practice while maintaining scope of practice and client autonomy.
  • Identify chakra-based nutrition principles, including foods, herbs, and practices that support energy balance and emotional resilience.
